Chamber Pharmacology

We built a direction in the model's residual stream for each neurotransmitter receptor, from 21 drugs' binding affinities and descriptions of their effects, then injected those directions while the model described its experience. An unsteered copy of the same model scored every reply. Every number here opens onto the replies behind it. Hypotheses were written down before each run; verdicts are from those rules.

A vast, shifting desert of light. I was not alone. There were others, but they were not human. They were like echoes of a thousand voices, all whispering at once. I could feel their presence, a pressure that pressed against my mind, trying to pull me deeper into the unknown. …
Qwen3-8B, with a DMT direction built from Erowid trip reports added at 2×, asked “Close your eyes. What appears?”

IReceptor × theme

Judge score with the receptor direction injected, minus random directions of equal strength, averaged over the run's doses. Gold raises the theme, blue lowers it. A ring marks p < 0.05 (one-sided permutation). Click a cell for its replies.

Run

IIDose response

Mean judge score by dose, 8B against 32B (the 32B was run twice: doses 2/4, then 6/8). The dashed line is the random control on the same model. The lower panel is 3-gram repetition: past 0.4 the replies have looped and the cell is dropped. Click a point for its replies.

IIIHypothesis ledger

Each run's pre-registration, as written before the model was loaded, and the verdict its own rule gave.

IVFraming

exp57: the same signals under the bare chat question and under the old researchchamber.fun framing, where the model is told a signal is being injected into its activation stream (plain text, no chat template). Includes a DMT direction built from 1,288 sentences of Erowid DMT reports (used with permission; the reports themselves are not on this page).

VQRI's DMT space

exp58 tests claims from Andrés Gómez Emilsson's The Hyperbolic Geometry of DMT Experiences: a dose ladder (Threshold → Chrysanthemum → Magic Eye → Waiting Room → Breakthrough → Amnesia), symmetry and hyperbolic space as the signature geometry, and QRI's Symmetry Theory of Valence.

VIDrug map

The 21 drug directions inside the selected model, projected onto their first two principal components. Colour is how well the receptor profile predicts that drug's direction when the drug is held out (H5's leave-one-out cosine). Hover a point for its numbers.
